The Fontana Police Department budget currently covers necessities to care for the department cannines, as well as training costs and basic equipment costs. In order to maintain our unit at optimum performances, additional equipment or training is sometimes needed. The Fontana Police K9 Pals is a non-profit organization that donates much of the needed equipment for our officers and canines so that we can provide the best possible service for our community. Some of the items listed, such as the veterinary costs, are currently covered by the Fontana Police Department budget. However, any costs that we cover through donations allows for the reallocation of funds to other departmental needs. The following are estimates of recurring costs per dog and the Fontana Police Department currently deploys three canines. Each dog saves approximately 1,000 man hours per year. The list represents only a sample of the required costs to run an effective k9 program.
RECURRING COSTS ARE ONE-TIME COSTS TO PURCHASE THE DOGS, FULLY EQUIPPED POLICE UNITS AND TRAINING FOR THE DOGS.

The Fontana Police K-9 PALS is a Non-Profit Organization which was formed in 1990 to promote the safety and welfare of the City of Fontana by supporting the Fontana Police K-9 unit. The funds raised by our organization will go directly to the next Fontana Police K-9 and their needs. There are no salaries paid out of the donations. The board of directors are all dedicated volunteers. We have set the goal of raising $8,000.00 |

All donations will help in our objective and are tax-deductible. Dues to join the Fontana Police K-9 PALS as a member is $5. per year. Any contributions toward our goal or dues/ purchases are greatly appreciated. As a member, you will be kept abreast the latest news via email about our K-9 unit, when the K-9 PALS meetings are and when and where the next K-9 demonstration will be held for your attendance.
